Brain Performance Evidence
Biofeedback and neurofeedback provide the kind of evidence-based practice the health care establishment is demanding. The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, and the International Society for Neuronal Regulation, together commissioned a Task Force to develop official standards and to define what kinds of research is required for five levels of efficacy.

This 2013 paper was commissioned by the Board of the International Society of Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR) to evaluate the evidence base of neurofeedback to treat Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Neurofeedback has been used as a form of behavioral therapy for over 40 years and has proven to be “uniquely suited to treat the neurological dysregulation that is common in children and youth diagnosed with ADHD.”

“Hello, I have been on medication for anxiety for many years. And lately, I either needed to increase the dose or change my medicine to something else. I started on this program and I made it a priority to get well, do the most because the anxiety was so bad, the panic attacks were horrible. So the program has been very, very helpful. I wake up in the morning and I can enjoy my cup of coffee, read if I want to, and life is GOOD. This has been the best thing that I could have done for me. The anxiety is gone, and it is so wonderful to know that there is hope for everyone. That you don’t need to go through life scared, afraid. Let’s not waste time. Let’s enjoy life.”

“My son, when he was about 7 years old, was very depressed. And there’s nothing more heartbreaking for a parent than seeing your small child be so depressed. So I took him to a psychotherapist. And the psychotherapist ran some tests and he determined that he would need an additional type of therapy called neurofeedback. We started in the fall of his 2nd Grade in school and I immediately saw a change in him. He was much happier. He became more focused. Leigh and her staff treated him like he was a king when he came here. And he loved to come. In fact he still comes back for brain brightening sessions from time to time.”

“My name is Mark. I came to the Brain Performance Center about 2-3 months ago and began seeing Leigh here. What brought me here was the fact that I had chronic anxiety and even panic attacks. I suffered from both of those things pretty much my entire life. I began brain training with Leigh 2-3 months ago. I’ve probably done about 17 or 18 sessions. And the cool thing is that after 17 or 18 sessions the anxiety has come down significantly and the panic is basically gone.”
