Neuro stimulation is a non invasive technique that can increase the functional connectivity of different parts of the brain and change the brain dynamics. When the brain is synchronized it works better, in many different ways. The different clinical applications include chronic pain, depression an enhanced cognitive learning.
While neuro stimulation has been around for years much work has been done in the last 10 years to develop a safety protocol for administering neuro stimulation. Many studies have been conducted to determine the optimal time of stimulation and current used as well as steps to take in order to reduce or eliminate the side effects felt by the person receiving the stimulation. Present safety guidelines on the research and medical fields treat daily stimulation up to 60 min and up to 4 mA as safe. Our treatment protocols are well within the guidelines. There are few minor side effects.

All decisions made regarding your medication should be made with your prescribing physician. That being stated, a large portion of patients pursue Bio/Neurofeedback with the goal of being weaned off their medication, or the amount being reduced.
There are no side effects associated with Biofeedback or Neurofeedback. Although, patients often report better sleep and focus, decreased impulsiveness and a relaxed mood. In fact, these are the primary reasons Neurofeedback is chosen as an alternative to medication.
“Hello, I have been on medication for anxiety for many years. And lately, I either needed to increase the dose or change my medicine to something else. I started on this program and I made it a priority to get well, do the most because the anxiety was so bad, the panic attacks were horrible. So the program has been very, very helpful. I wake up in the morning and I can enjoy my cup of coffee, read if I want to, and life is GOOD. This has been the best thing that I could have done for me. The anxiety is gone, and it is so wonderful to know that there is hope for everyone. That you don’t need to go through life scared, afraid. Let’s not waste time. Let’s enjoy life.”

“My son, when he was about 7 years old, was very depressed. And there’s nothing more heartbreaking for a parent than seeing your small child be so depressed. So I took him to a psychotherapist. And the psychotherapist ran some tests and he determined that he would need an additional type of therapy called neurofeedback. We started in the fall of his 2nd Grade in school and I immediately saw a change in him. He was much happier. He became more focused. Leigh and her staff treated him like he was a king when he came here. And he loved to come. In fact he still comes back for brain brightening sessions from time to time.”

“My name is Mark. I came to the Brain Performance Center about 2-3 months ago and began seeing Leigh here. What brought me here was the fact that I had chronic anxiety and even panic attacks. I suffered from both of those things pretty much my entire life. I began brain training with Leigh 2-3 months ago. I’ve probably done about 17 or 18 sessions. And the cool thing is that after 17 or 18 sessions the anxiety has come down significantly and the panic is basically gone.”
