Get Started

Call our hotline 214-329-9017 or 817-500-4863 and we will guide you through the program. The first step is a 30-minute free consultation with our Clinical Director Leigh Richardson to be done in person, via Zoom/Skype or on the phone. We want to hear you out, answer your questions and understand your condition to be sure that we offer the right treatment options for you. After that, we will schedule a 2-hour assessment or evaluation. This includes a QEEG (quantitative electroencephalograph), a LENS brain map, a neurocognitive test and an IVA (Independent Variable Analysis) Test. The assessment can be broken into two appointments if needed. The results of the assessment will then be used to individualize your treatment program. We offer different modalities of neurofeedback, neuromodulation, LENS, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Every session runs for 50 minutes and is typically done 2-3 times a week or even daily for out-of-towners, for an average total of 25-30 sessions.

How do I get started?

First, call our hotline 214-329-9017 or 817-500-4863 to set you up with a free consultation. You may also choose to send us an email with your name and phone number to info@thebrainperformancecenter.com.

How does the assessment or evaluation work?

The first step in understanding what will help your brain is doing a brain map. This is a QEEG, quantitative electroencephalograph, which involves placing a cap with sensors on the head and recording 20 minutes of data with your eyes open and then eyes closed. Once the data has been artifacted and edited it is compared to a normative data base that is both gender and age specific. This shows us how your brain compares to a person of the same sex and age. The brain map looks at the brain three ways: power, coherence, and phase. For the brain to operate efficiently the right amount of power needs to get to the right part of the brain at the right time. Coherence shows us how the brain is sharing information. Phase is the timing in the brain. We also do a LENS map which shows what parts of the brain are suppressed.

We do an Independent Variable Analysis (IVA) to determine how the brain responds and pays attention to both visual and auditory stimulus. A neurocognitive test is done that looks for behavior or mood disorders as well as cognitive processing issues. Our test battery is compiled so that the different tests will validate each other.

The final step is sitting down and explaining the results of the brain map (QEEG) and the other assessments. Based on what we have learned, we share our recommended treatment program utilizing a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback and neurofeedback.

How long does the assessment or evaluation take?

The testing can be done in one session or broken down into two appointments. Most people are able to complete all the testing in one appointment which is around 2 hours.

Is every program the same?

No. The treatment program is designed based on the assessment or evaluation. Some programs will include neurofeedback and LENS, neuromodulation and/or cognitive behavioral therapy. Each program is designed to address the individual needs and concerns each person may have.

How long will I come in for treatment?

Each patient has different needs, and on average 25-30 sessions are required to see permanent change. More sessions may be required based on the severity of the condition. Each treatment session is about an hour. Time is allotted for setup and discussion between the therapist and client. People who see the best results come on an average of twice a week to maximize the effects of their treatment. Some avail themselves of the intensive therapy program which is especially helpful for out-of-towners.

How much does the program cost? Do you take insurance?

The assessment or evaluation costs $650. This already includes a brain-mapping called the QEEG, a neurocognitive test for behavior, and an Independent Variable Test for vision and hearing. Every session of neurotherapy and/or psychotherapy runs for about an hour for $145 each. We typically recommend 1-2 sessions per week for a total of 25-30 sessions.

Our services are generally not covered by insurance but HSA funds can be utilized. We will provide receipts with the diagnosis code that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network coverage.

Where is your center and where do we go?

We have one location in Dallas at 8215 Westchester Dr. Ste. 243, Dallas, TX 75225. We are open Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 7 pm, and Friday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 5 pm. Our consultation is done in Dallas but we offer phone and Zoom/Skype consultations as an alternative.

Would this program interfere with my current medication?

All decisions made regarding your medication should be made with your prescribing physician. That being stated, a large portion of patients pursue biofeedback or neurofeedback with the goal of being weaned off their medication, or the amount being reduced.

Are there any side effects?

There are no side effects associated with biofeedback or neurofeedback. Patients often report better sleep and focus, decreased impulsiveness and a relaxed mood. In fact, these are the primary reasons biofeedback and neurofeedback are chosen as an alternative to medication.

What if I am coming from out of town?

We can offer you the Visitor Program. The Visitor Program is especially designed for people coming in from out of town who wish to avail of our intensive therapy program for about 2 to 4 weeks only. This program utilizes Neurotherapy or Integrated Approach therapies depending on your needs. All sessions are done at our clinic in Dallas. Please call us directly and we can provide you information on restaurants, car service and lodging.

The first day includes the assessment or evaluation which lasts approximately 2 hours and is comprised of 3 tests. We map the brain 2 ways: with LENS to look at neuroplasticity, and a QEEG that is a brain map that looks at the power and timing in the brain and how it shares information. Next is a neurocognitive Test that looks at the brain 4 ways: self-regulation, emotions, feelings, and thinking. If the main concern for a child under the age of 12 is ADHD, we will do an IVA (Independent Variable Analysis) Test that looks at how the brain processes information both visual and auditory. The results of the assessment are used to determine what types of neuromodulation and neurofeedback will be utilized in your treatment program. The total charge for the assessment is $650.

Then we will schedule Neurotherapy that include neurofeedback, biofeedback, neuromodulation or LENS, or Integrated Approach treatments by adding Psychotherapy or talk therapy. Our sessions are $145 for 50 minutes of any kind of treatment. For the Visitor Program, we recommend 1-2 sessions per day for 6-7 days per week depending on schedule availability, at an average of 25-30 sessions total. We can compress or spread out the sessions depending on your length of stay, with the maximum of up to 2 sessions per day only.

We expect you to see some change around 6 sessions but for the change to hold in the brain it takes more reinforcement. We want to take you as far as you want to go. We offer discounted sessions after the first 20. We also offer family discounts.
